Use the form below — it reaches our app support team directly. If a screen will not read, tell us your device and iOS version and describe the layout: which fields are where, and what the labels above them say. That is what we need to teach the app a new screen.

Please do not send us details of a real job. A description of the layout is enough, and it keeps anyone's information out of our inbox.

We use what you send only to answer you. Nothing is added to a mailing list, and we do not pass it on.

Frequently asked

It will not read the screen

Get the whole screen in shot. On a two-column layout the app tells the job's address from the caller's by which side of the screen it sits on, so a frame that catches only one column can read the address but not the phone number. Square up to the screen rather than reading it at an angle, let the camera settle for a second, and shift the phone slightly to move any glare band. Fields lock in one at a time, so the address can land on one frame and the coordinates on the next.

It will not accept the coordinates

That is deliberate. A pair is only accepted when both numbers are complete, carry a decimal point, and land inside Australia. A digit the camera misread — a lowercase L read as a 1 is the classic one — or half a number outside the frame produces no result rather than a plausible wrong one, and the scanner keeps looking. If it will not settle, tap Type it in; typed entry is deliberately more permissive and warns rather than refusing.

Are the latitude and longitude the right way round?

Yes, whichever way the screen prints them. One layout prints longitude first and the other prints latitude first; the app works out which number is which from the values rather than the printed order, and always hands your maps app latitude first. If a coordinate ever looks wrong, the app flags a positive latitude or a negative longitude on screen rather than silently correcting it.

It read the wrong address

The app takes the job's address and never the caller's own address, and takes the caller's number and never one written into the free-text notes. If it has taken the wrong one, that is a bug and we want to hear about it — use the form above and describe the layout.

Can I change which maps app it opens?

Yes. Settings offers Google Maps or Apple Maps. Either way the route starts from wherever you are now. Google Maps opens in the browser if the app is not installed.

Does it store anything?

No. A read lives in memory until you take the next one, and is gone when the app closes. There is no history and nothing is written to disk. See the privacy policy.

Can it learn another screen?

Yes — that is how the second layout was added. Describe the layout through the form above: which fields sit where, and what the labels above them say.

Important

CAD Maps is a reading aid. It transcribes what is on a screen; it does not verify it. Always confirm an address or a location against the source before acting on it.
