Privacy Policy
CAD Maps collects no personal information. The app has no server of its own, no account and no sign-in, and it makes no network requests. This policy is short because there is very little to describe — but it describes all of it, including the one place on this website where you can choose to send us something.
What the app does
CAD Maps uses the camera to recognise text on a screen you point it at, and extracts an address, a coordinate pair and a contact phone number from what it reads. It then offers to open driving directions or to place a call.
Where that happens
- Text recognition runs entirely on your device, using Apple's built-in framework. No image, video or recognised text leaves the device.
- The app contains no analytics, advertising or tracking code, and collects no advertising or device identifiers.
- The app makes no network requests of its own, so there are no server logs of your use of it.
What is stored on your device
Nothing about a job is written to disk. A read is held in memory only, is replaced when you take the next one, and is discarded when the app closes. There is no history, and nothing about a job is included in a device backup.
The only values saved on the device are your two settings — which maps app directions open in, and whether you have chosen light, dark, or the phone's own appearance. Neither is personal information and neither leaves the device.
Camera
Camera access is used solely for live text recognition while the scanner is on screen. No photo or video is captured, saved to your photo library, or transmitted. The camera is not used at any other time.
When you tap Navigate or Call
The app hands the address, the coordinates or the phone number to your maps app or your phone app, in the same way as tapping an address in any other app. What those apps do with it is governed by their own privacy policies — Apple's for Apple Maps and the Phone app, Google's for Google Maps — not by this one.
This website's support form
The support form on this site is the only place we can receive anything from you, and only if you choose to use it. What you type into it — your message, and the name and email address you optionally supply — is sent to our app support team by email and used only to answer you. It is not added to a mailing list, not used for marketing, and not passed to anyone else. Our web server keeps standard access logs (IP address, request time, user agent) for security and operations; these are rotated and deleted routinely.
Data retention and deletion
Because the app stores nothing and sends nothing, there is no stored data associated with your use of it to delete. Uninstalling the app removes its two settings along with it. If you have written to us through the support form and want that correspondence deleted, ask through the same form and we will remove it within 30 days.
Children
CAD Maps is a work tool and is not directed at children under 13. It collects no information from anyone.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be published at this address with a new effective date.
