CAD Maps

Screen to map, in one tap

Point the camera at the screen. Drive to the job.

CAD Maps reads a job address, a coordinate pair and a contact phone number off a screen you point the camera at, and turns them into driving directions and a phone call. No typing, no transcription errors, no reading numbers back over the radio.

Built to refuse rather than guess

A wrong destination is worse than no destination. A coordinate is only accepted when both numbers are complete, carry a decimal point, and land inside Australia — a digit the camera misread, or half a number outside the frame, is discarded rather than guessed at, and the scanner simply keeps looking until a clean frame arrives.

The same care applies to whose details get used. The app navigates to the job's address and never to the caller's own address, and offers the caller's number and never one written into the free-text notes. On a two-column screen it tells them apart by where they sit; on a labelled screen, by what they are labelled.

Everything happens on the phone

Text recognition runs on the device using Apple's built-in framework. The app has no server, no account and no sign-in, and makes no network requests of its own. A read lives in memory until the next one replaces it — there is no history, and nothing is written to disk or included in a backup.
